The annual Core Conference, CEGA’s foremost rock-focused event, serves as a collaborative platform for sharing insights and technical work within the geoscience community. It offers a valuable opportunity to encounter diverse rock types and network with fellow geoscientists. Our presenters range from esteemed figures in Canadian university programs to experienced industry professionals with decades of experience in natural resource development.
The Core Research Centre (CRC) is a world-class storage and research facility. It holds a vast collection of geological materials from and information on most of the oil and gas wells drilled in Alberta. The CRC’s collection provides the most complete drilling history of a defined geographical area in the world—with drill cuttings and well cores dating back to 1911 and 1925, respectively. Historically, the CRC has generously allowed CEGA to use its entire facility for the Core Conference. The CRC is a one of a kind, world class facility, the existence of which has led to so many innovations in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin and beyond.
